Comments: A number of Holland America Line ships have been named Statendam, the moniker of an old dike on the island of Goeree-Overflakkee.
Note: All Holland America ships have the last part of their name "dam" to reflect a region in the Netherlands because that's how people identified where a townships was located in the Netherlands. (for example Amsterdam, Rotterdam, ...)
This highly prized Delft stoneware recognizes the history of the first Statendam named ship that sailed the oceans afar.
It was a gift to all first class passengers, two pieces per cabin.
Back side has non-slip cork backing. |
