In the beginning od 1900’s Berck had five casinos: Casino des Lapins (Casino des Dunes- Cottage des Dunes ) , Le Petit Casino at Terminal quartier, Le Petit Casino- rue de l´Imperatrice, Kursaal de Berck and Grand Casino Eden, also called Casino de La Plage. Inaugurated of 14 July 1901 under the name of EDEN CASINO it becomes the GREAT CASINO OF THE BEACH on the eve of the First World War. During the First War it is transformed into a hospital. He receives the first wounded em December of 1914. In 1916 the Casino was transformed into Institute of Phisyotherapie. In July 1913 is heavily damaged by a fire. In October of the same year it is sold. We suppose it reopened in 1922, after having functioned as a Hospital during the First Great War until 1918, and possibly as a children's shelter until a little later. There are records of gambling receipts during the years 1910 to 1913, in the year 1922 and in the period from 1926 to 1929. “The Grand Casino de la Plage offers a wealth of entertainment (music hall, theater, dancing, jeux de La Boule and baccarat, etc.)” (Livret Guide Officiel des Chemins de Fer du Nord, 1937). We do not know when it ended , but it would have been after 1937, by the registry below. Possibly in 1939 with the beginning of WWII
