| The game was legalized in Portugal in 1927, being allowed in Estoril, Madeira Island, Espinho, Curia, Sintra (never opened), Santa Luzia (never opened), Figueira da Foz and Praia da Rocha. Will be granted, for given period.
Espinho was considered temporary gambling area ( only a few months during the year). In 1928 the Sociedade Espinho Praia awarded the gambling concession, and has installed the casino in the building of the former Casino Peninsular, that was opened on May 6, 1929.
Over the years the casino had several owners, being actually ( since 1974) Solverde, that owns too Casino de Chaves and the three Algarve casinos.
The casino had several assignements – Casino Peninsular, Casino de Espinho, Grande Casino de Espinho e Casino Soverde Espinho.
