In July of 1862 the Emperor Napoleon III visits the thermal station, which contributes to attract immense investors. The Grand Hotel opened in 1865. A first casino opened in 1872. A second casino named Casino Chalet, built in neo-Norman style, in wood and red and wood bricks opened in 1874. It had gambling halls, several rooms for socializing, reading , etc. and restaurant. Project of the architect Cournol. A 700-seat theater designed by architect Carpenter is adjoined in1891-1892- polychrome facade alternates clear stone, brick red, pink and yellow. The Kursaal comprising a café-restaurant, billiards room and theater room (with vaudeville and comedy) was opened in 1899. It had gambling rooms. A third casino, the Casino en Planches, called Casino Samie, was open to the public in the period 1892-1895. In 1919 a fire destroys the Casino Chalet. In 1919-1921 a new casino was built. In this building still operates the current casino.
