The Queen of Spain Marie-Christine lived in exile in LeHavre , at the villa “ Mon Désir”. After her death the property was sold and its vast park was built a casino with her name. The first project was launched in April 1882. This project therefore consisted of a casino and a restaurant, that will remain unchanged until September 1909, when started the building of a new casino. This will open July23, 1910. In the First War it housed an hospital for the British troops. From November 1939 to June 1940 , he is transformed back into an hospital to British troops. Whit the arrival of Germans, it will be transformed into a officer club. The terrace will be hit hard in the bombing of September 15, 1940, but the most damage will arrive April20, 1941, by a bombing ,during a reception in honor of Japanese officers. The casino emerge from the war very damaged, Reopened in 1946, it will be never completely restored, and was totally demolished in 1960. |
