In 1859 will be made a construction of a building that will became Cercle Philarmonique, later Cercle des Etrangers , who will take the name of GRAND CASINO DE MENTON. Closed, will be installed there the City Hall in 1901. In the same time opened near the GRAND CASINO in January 5, 1887, in a Moorish-style edifice, known also as CASINO VILLAREY, who will be destroyed later. At the exit of the city, near Italian border was opened the CASINO DES ROCHERS ROUGES, placed under the cliffs of the same name, that will be completely destroyed in 1940. The CASINO KURSAAL, also named Casino Municipal, was opened in June 1908. Was the largest casino in Riviera. Gambling was allowed in December 1908. In WWII gambling was prohibited and Casino Kursaal turns into an hospital. Post war saw the agony of the Casino Kursaal.The city council decides to build a new casino, that will open in February 1934, and closed for years in the WWII e post war. Post war opening seasons: 1948-50, 1952-89 (Sun Beach), July 11,1991-2012.
