| Groupe Cogit.In 1890 is founded the Societé Immobiliere de Lacanau et du Chemin de Fer de Lacanau à l´Ocean , that buy lands and launched the construction of the railway. In 1904 the first villas were built , as in 1907 the first bathhouse on the beach. On this date 80 cottages wer built and the City Council adopts the name of “ Côte d´Argent” ( silver coast).
1915- Creation of the first casino- CASINO DES PINS. 1924- is purchased by SI the “Palais des Arts Décoratifs” to create GRAND CASINO at the end of the Rue des Frères Estrade. The Grand Casino will open in July 4, 1925. It will work until the beginningof 1930´s.
In 1940 Lacanau had twenty hotels, and a casino- CASINO DE LA PLAGE
Lacanau will be occupied by German troops , the “ Atlantic Wall” is built , and the coast line is littered with posts of mines.
After the war a new casino will be built.
The company Casino de Lacanau, owner of the existing casino, was created in March8, 1997, but the gambling will open only in 2001.
