The original name of the place was “ Les Bains of Arles”, related to the fact that here arose the warm waters of the city of Arles sur Tech. The present name was given in 1840 in reference to Queen Amélie. In 1942 the small village of Palalda was attached to the spa. The current name of the town is “ Amélie les Bains-Palalda”. Aiguat is the designated precipitation of rare violence that beffel the Pyrenées- Orientales in 16 to 20 October 1940.Casino Amélie les Bains was carried, one side was swept and there were about thirty death. A new casino would be built after WW II. After several months of sale off the casino is closed since 23 th February 2019 by decision of the Commerce Court.
