Originally called the "Rodeo Cigar Store". First raided for illegal gambling in 1938, when a police raid interrupted a crowd listening to and wagering on horse races in a bookmaking operation (see Archive). Sold to John A. Shepherd in 1964.

T. R. King sold at least 2000 of the small crown chips in six denominations to the Rodeo Club, 131 Main Street, Salinas, California, in 1960.
