The cocktail lounge first opened in 1960, owned by William (Bill) Hughes, who added a card room around 1965. Bought by Jay Tucker in 1976, and managed by his wife, Sonia (Sunny) Tucker. Roberta Kramer took over the operation in 1984. Also called the "Embers", "Embers Club", and "Embers Club Cardroom", and first called the "Embers Casino" in 1976.

Tucker, was dubbed the "King of Sacramento County Card Rooms" by The Gambling Scene magazine. He also owned the "Nashville West Card Room #2" which became his "River City Casino" in Sacramento, and the Nashville West Card Room #3 which became his "Tex's Saloon & Casino" in neighboring North Highlands.
