(John Benedict) The chip was a gift from a person who was in the casino business in Portugal many years ago. It was described to me in a letter as being from "a club to the north in the 1920's."
I had searched and found nothing and mentioned that and the only response I had was "I can not find it, either" or something to that effect.
I am under the impression that it was either a private or an Illegal club ... and learned years ago that there were some private clubs that catered to the British.
The chip is 34mm and described as being Club Atlantic. It is 1 Escudo, and appears to be hand engraved. The pigment is thick and shows no signs of being animal bone or ivory. |
