I believe a typo was made in the USPC label. I believe the chips were delivered to C.D. Peacock, a Chicago retailer. I believe the chips were purchased for Gertrude Blair Peacock who was the wife of Walter C. Peacock. Walter was
the son of Charles Daniel (C.D.) Peacock for whom the store was named. As evidence that she played cards, Gertrude shows up in society pages as hosting Bridge-Whist parties. |
