In the "Belle Epoque" Le Vésinet essentially offers the character of an elegant resort, located fairly close to Paris and sufficiently well served by steam trains to attract many summer visitors. In 1906, a former settler had obtained the right to operate a casino on the island and rent boats on the lake. He would have tried to attract the world by multiplying the attractions, among which the installation of a couple of ibis of Egypt . But the Société des Ibis, having not obtained the renewal of exploitation of the gambling, it is the City which, in 1914, becomes owner of the big lake and the island which extends on 27 000 m2. |
