| The building of Rue Bossu 5 was built in 1880 and initially housed the Casino de la Rue Bossu (also known as Casino de Cannes), which included a brasserie, a theater and a Cercle de Jeux (Cercle International). In 1915 the rue Bossu was renamed Rue des Belges, as a tribute to the Belgian soldiers during the first great war. The Casino obtained from 1880 a gambling license- petits chevaux in the beginning. The Casino closed in 1925. In the same place was established the Sporting Casino (1926-1961), which included a casino, theater, the "Casanova" cabaret and the restaurant "La Gondola", and later the Casino des Fleurs (1962-1988), with a famous dancing, which ended when the gambling license was transferred to Palm Beach. |
