| The Casino Gailhard was one of the first casinos in France, established in Arcachon in 1850.
The hotel and bathing establishment was built in 1836 fot the Bordeaux painter Tindel. A setback of fortune forced Tindel to sell to the Gailhard family, who endowed the hotel with a casino in 1850.we can see in the litographies the mainbuilding, a two levels rectangular construction, with two side pavillons. The casino is the polygonal building, seen on the right side of the second litographie, surmonted by a lantern covered by a polygonal roof.
The casino would be destroyed in 1934.
The Casino Municipal d´Arcachon, also known as Casino de la Foret or Casino Mauresque was inaugurated in 1863 . We can not confirm, if with the opening of this casino the gambing was stoped at Casino Gailhard, or until when it will have worked.
A third casino has opened in Arcachon, the Casino d´Arcachon or Casino de la Plage in 1904.
