Yreka, California
Type: Card Room
Status: Closed
Open: 1924, Close: 1976

Owned by George W. Russell [GWR] from the early 1940s to the 1960s. Russell also owned the "Rainbow Club" in Dunsmuir, during the 1940s.

During the 1940s the fraternal "20-30 Club" operated a gambling room in the Yreka Inn. Although it was officially designated as being available for club members only, it was reported at the time that it was in fact open to the public (see "Archive").

According to the The Gaming Table (2017, p. 450), citing company records, the Portland Card Co. (Portland, OR) sold the "GWR" SqInCr-mold chips in five colors to George Russell, Log Cabin Hotel, Happy Camp, CA in 1958, and that the order cards indicate that the chips were later transferred to the Yreka Inn, Yreka, CA.

Advertisement detail from an ashtray, drawing from a post card (circa 1930), both posted below.
