The original "881 Club" (see "Was") was at 881 4th Street in San Rafael. It was owned in the 1940s by Bob & Mel Lasky. They sold the club to A. P. (Pete) Pellolio in 1951.

By the early 1970s, Pete changed the name of the club to "Pete's 881 Club". After having a stroke in 1988, Pete handed management over to his son Randy. In 1989, the club moved to 721 Lincoln Ave. Randy and Linda Pellolio assumed full ownership in 2008.
