Originally owned by Hyman Nieman, who was granted a license for two card tables in 1949. Nieman was arrested at the club in October 1949 on bookmaking charges. Austin K. Wright took over the club in 1950. It became the "Morro Club" in 1952 (see Became).

T. R. King sold 1753 of these large crown chips in nine colors/denominations to Hyman Nieman, Hy's Club, 978 Morro Street, San Luis Obispo, California in 1949 and 1950. Ownership of the chips was turned over to the new club owner, Austin K. Wright, in 1950.
