T. R. King originally sold 5500 of these large crown chips in several denominations to James Quartiano (San Diego, CA) between 1942 and 1945.

Around 1945, ownership of the chips was transferred to the "Pine Tree Card Room" (428 G Street, San Diego, CA). The "Pine Tree" was first owned by Earl W. Stone, and after 1953 by J. E. Clark, who ordered more of these chips.
