369 Alvarado Street
Monterey, California
Type: Card Room
Status: Closed
Open: 1945, Close: 1960s

Originally called the "Owl Snooker Pool Room", and owned by Harry Niles, who paid a federal gambling machine tax in 1948. Later owned by Charles W. Harrison.

T. R. King sold both the "Marina Club" chips in 1961 and the red "OC/25 cent" chips in 1964 to the Owl Club, 341 Alvarado Street, Monterey, California. In the 1950s and 1960s, the "Pan Club" was at that 341 Alvarado address, while the "Owl Club" was at 369 Alvarado. Both were licensed card rooms, and possibly both owned by the same person. The "Marina Club" chips are later used by the ā€¯Marina Club" (Marina, CA) in the 1970s.

Listing (second from top) from 1963 Monterey County Yellow Pages, under "Card Playing Rooms" (Library of Congress).
