Opened in 1937 with a restaurant, bar, and licensed card room. It was originally owned by brothers Frank and Jack Silva. It was sold to Serafim and Mary Fernandes in 1944 who owned the establishment until 1968.

The attribution of the L-mold chips is traced to Armin Pfaender's California Chip Guide (2004), who credits Raulin Mendoca for the information. Not in Eastman (1998).
