Opened with a license for twenty five card tables. While officially licensed to the local American Legion, the club was owned by Tony Cornero (and partners). Cornero had previously operated gambling ships of the coast of California. The license for the club was transferred to the "Horseshoe Club" in 1949.

T. R. King sold 10,100 of the plain mold "Paranoid" chip in three colors, and 300 of the large crown chips in one color, to P. P. Dunbar, 1813 West Redondo Boulevard, Gardena, California, in 1944.
