The attribution of the ZigZag-mold hot stamp chips is traced to Eastman's Illustrated Guide to California Card Room Gaming Chips & Checks (1998).

The ZigZag mold was first used by the Noll Co. in the 1930s. In the 1960s, T. R. King acquired the Noll ZigZag mold, and many of their hot stamp dies. It appears that they used the "Circle Hotel" hot stamp die on later Large Crown chips.
