T. R. King sold 1400 of these large crown chips in five colors to Edward Palomino (owner of the Mexicali) and his partner Norman McDonald between 1946 and 1948.

The Mexicali was raided for hosting illegal draw poker games in 1945 (with chips seized and McDonald arrested) and raided again in 1946. Palomino owned several other bars, where gambling may have also occurred (see Archive).
