''It was built in 1886 as a spa and remained so until 1934, when the planning was entrusted to the architects Eugen Fassbender and Maximilian Katscher by the acting mayor Oskar Alexander Graf Christalnigg zu Gilitzstein. Before this, however, the old lying-in hospital, the baroque Theresienbad and the wooden pump rooms as well as minor sections of the original bath had to be demolished. The casino was opened on 12 April 1934 in the spa, which was only provisionally adapted inside. Later, the promised reconstruction was carried out and the house was opened as a casino-compatible gaming house on 11 December 1937. From 1945 to 1955, the spa Casino served the Soviet occupying power as a functions centre. After the withdrawal of the occupying forces, the building was repaired and served the city of Baden as a venue for events. Between 1966 and 1968 the spa was converted into a congress centre under the direction of Mayor privy councillor Viktor Wallner. Additional space was obtained by adding a false ceiling in the large hall. The new hall and its adjoining rooms offered space for 1,200 people. The large restaurant could cater for 350 guests. The planning for this conversion phase was from architect Kurt Bartak. In 1968 a provisional casino was opened in the Badener Saal of the Kongresshaus. In 1977, the Trinkhalle (Pump Rooms), which was built in 1928 and adjoins the Congress House, was converted into a casino according to the plans of the architect's office Building Councillor Dipl.-Ing. Walter Nemetz/ Dipl.-Ing. Oskar Lorber and opened on 11 October 1977.The year 1989 saw the closure of the Congress House, which was leased to Casinos Austria AG on March 21, 1991, who awarded a planning contract to the architectural association Dipl.-Ing. Roland Nemetz/ Dipl.-Ing. Franz Fehringer. The latter left the architectural association in 1993. His place was taken by the architects Peretti/ Peretti. On 17 January 1992, the ground-breaking ceremony for the new large building took place (Mayor, State Parliament representative, Prof. August Breinigner, General Director Leo Wallner). The Congress Casino Baden was opened in March 1995.'' Source www.tourismus.baden.at
